  62. 1.4    QUALITY ASSURANCE
  63.  
  64.     A.    Manufacturer's Representative shall be available to make recommendations specific to project, substrate, coating appearance, and cleaning options.

  66. 1.5    DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
  67.  
  68.     A.    Deliver materials in original sealed containers, clearly marked with manufacturer's name, type of material, and batch number.
  69.  
  70.     B.    Inspect the materials upon delivery to assure that specified products have been received.
  71.  
  72.     C.    Protect materials from the elements.  Keep in original unopened container to prevent contamination by foreign materials.

  74.     D.    Use all means necessary to protect material before, during, and after installation, and to protect work of other trades.

  88. 2.2    MATERIALS
  89. NOTE ** Select pigmented coating in paragraph below if coloration is required for the project.  Color-Lok is a permanent coating of acrylic resins, ultraviolet light absorbers, surfactants, and emulsifiers that allows moisture vapor to escape.

  91.     A.    Pigmented Coating:  Rainguard "Color-Lok" or "Tec-Top." 
  92. NOTE ** Select graffiti-resistant coatings from two paragraphs below.  Vandl-Guard is a chemically-resistant, one-part, water-based, cross-linked co-polymer that dries to a clear, colorless film.  It can be applied to the bare substrate or over Color-Lok or Tec-Top.

NOTE ** Vandl-Top is a one-part, water-based, cross-linked co-polymer sacrificial emulsion.  When applied as a top coat, it dries to a clear, colorless film without increasing flammability of the substrate or supporting the growth of mildew, bacteria, or fungus.  It can be applied only over Color-Lok, Tec-Top, Vandl-Guard, or bare substrate.

  101. PART 3    EXECUTION

  103. 3.1    EXAMINATION
  104.  
  105.     A.    Verify that surfaces to be coated are in proper condition.
  106.         1.    New masonry and cement plaster:  Cured 30 days before application.
  107.         2.    Painted or coated surfaces:  Cured 30 days before application.
  108.         3.    Substrate moisture content:  No higher than 15 percent as registered on an electronic moisture meter.

  110.     B.    Verify that surfaces are structurally sound.
  111.  
  112. 3.2    PREPARATION
  113.  
  114.     A.    Thoroughly clean substrates of foreign substances, such as dust, dirt, grime, oils, scale, rust, silicones, curing compounds, alkali, acid residues, and other foreign matter.
  115.  
  116.     B.    Protect work of other trades against damage by coating and finish work.
  117.  
  118. 3.3    APPLICATION
  119.  
  120.     A.    Apply materials in not less than the number of coats and coverage rates as recommended in manufacturer's technical data sheets.
  121.  
  122.     B.    Apply materials when substrate surface temperature is between 45 and 90 degrees F (7 and 32 degrees C).  Do not apply in direct sunlight.
  123.  
  124.     C.    Allow each coating to dry and cure before applying subsequent coats.
  125.  
  126.     D.    Achieve a uniform pinhole free, continuous film when applying graffiti-resistant coatings.

  128. 3.4    FIELD QUALITY CONTROL
  129.  
  130.     A.    Manufacturer's Representative shall inspect all coated surfaces after work is complete to verify proper application.

  132. 3.5    ADJUSTING AND CLEANING
  133.  
  134.     A.    If damage occurs, immediately make all repairs and replacements necessary at no additional cost to Owner.
  135.  
  136.     B.    During process of work, remove discarded coating materials, rubbish, cans, and rags at end of each workday.
  137.  
  138.     C.    Correct any damage by cleaning, repairing or replacing, and recoating, as acceptable to Architect.
